marriage is weird.
i'm not actually married but all in all, it's the same.
it's weird that after 3 weeks apart the homecoming is glorious, but familiar.
it's sooo easy, and sooo comfortable to slip right back into the day-to-day.
And you know, I love that aspect. I love that I can be so comfortable with someone that any interruption is easily overcome.
however. it makes my life seem so ordinary. not as exciting as it used to be.
i suppose it is not unusual. I'm going to South America next week. Pretty awesome.

ok so karaoke in japan is pretty freaking amazing. especially with 30 foreigners *australians, south americans, british, germans, italians, french, americans, belgians, etc.* it was awesome.

you know i've realized that there is really no way for me to convey what these experiences are like; you just have to come here to find out.

i don't want to come home. ever.

its my birthday tomorrow, tonight is going to be awesome.

yesterday involved mostly work, last minute preparation for the conference and doing the dojo.
afterward was the speaker dinner and it was an isakya (sp?) which basically means "all you can drink". there was about 50 of us there, didn't get too crazy but afterward ze germans wanted to go to the crub. there is a chain of clubs here called Gas Panic. it's pretty touristy and basically sucks, so we took them there as we could not be bothered to find some place cool and had to get up early the next day.
somewhere along the way we lost the germans and ended up with a couple of middle age americans instead. basically all this entry is leading up to was seeing one of the 38 year old, father of 2, americans (who, incidentally, works for the US DoD - department of defense) trying to do a b-boy move he called the "charlie brown". what was funny, and majorly embarrassing, is that a cool japanese guy was doing the "charlie brown" and this old american is like, "i can do that" and starts dancing!! badly!! i couldn't believe it! holy shit, so funny.

anyway we left, ran into a japanese breakdance troupe, there is video.

so, what's happened since...

the only real story you need to know is that 2 nights ago we met some of our french friends and went out to have a quiet dinner at a mexican restaurant named Zest.

we had a group of about 16 people including one of the 2 guys that started Napster. anyway, we were there for about half an hour having just had 2 shots of tequila each when in comes about 100-120 japanese people there to celebrate their wedding. these guys were freaking crazy.

so it started that they would all do a round of shots, toast each other, etc. we decided to try and out do them. soon enough they were over at our table. i saw at least 5 guys shoot half a bottle of tequila each. more tequila was ordered. we were cheering along with them singing a song that went something like "yoose yoose yoose seh yoose" while slapping your forearms. many people were tossed in the air. more tequila was ordered.

about an hour later the japanese guys were trashed as well as many of our party. the bride and groom finally showed up. we were sitting closer to the door then their party so when they came in the first people to greet them were the french guys from our group. i think we were on our 8th bottle of tequila. dragos was walking around with a bottle in each hand and pouring shots for everyone. at this point i realized just how drunk dragos was when he poured my friend marie a shot and dumped half the bottle on her hand.

i met a ton of japanese guys but i only remember one name, tamura. had to save some of the girls from the lecherous guys. our friends were equally afraid to either be kissed or barfed on, both of which were entirely possible. many glasses were broken, at least 3 people got sick in the restaurant.

i really wish i would have had a camera because i really can't describe how insane this party was, you just had to be there and i'm so grateful that i was. it was one of the best nights i've ever had in japan, possibly ever.

the party lasted for about 2 hours and began emptying out. tristane and i got saddled with getting the most wasted guy, an italian named andrea, back the hotel which was an adventure in itself.

anyway i have a camera now and will try to post some pictures once i figure out how to read japanese.
